A Welcome to Country is a sacred blessing performed by an Elder or Traditional Custodian. It acknowledges the deep connection First Nations peoples have to the land, waterways, and skies. Including this tradition in your wedding adds meaning and unity while paying respect to the cultural heritage of the land.
It is also a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the diverse lands your guests come from and warmly invite them to connect with the Traditional Lands where your celebration takes place. This gesture fosters a sense of unity, encourages them to feel at home on Country, and inspires a deeper journey toward reconciliation and respect.
